A sunny Tuesday night in Thurlaston saw Dezzy up against Burbage & Huncote in the second game of the senior league premier division.
In what was a sloppy first half , Burbage found more of the ball through the midfield but the Dezzy defence stood strong to thwart the aggressive front line of Burbage.
Withstanding the pressure, Dezzy found themselves two goals up with goals from Ross Mcgarry and Connor Mcgahan. Seemingly claiming the nerves and settling the pace, out of nowhere , goalkeeper Aeron Portch threw the ball into the back of his own net in what can only be described as a freak mistake.
Second half and the game on a knife edge, both teams made several substitutions and Desfords quality took control.
Jake Mcleary setting up Tom Vyce for his 6th goal of the season to as much as kill the game.
From there on there was only one team in it and another Vyce and Mcgahan goal moved Dezzy to 5-1
Desford then went down to ten men with all substitutes used as defender Tom Cotter suffered a knee injury. Wishing a speedy recovery for Tom!
Even with ten men, Dezzy kicked on and Big Jake Culverwell rounded off a slick Dezzy move to slot one into the far corner.
Overall a good performance from the lads and a constant goal threat regardless of the flow of the game.
Next up is Friar Lane & Epworth on Saturday
