After a week of heavy rain, there was some doubt as to whether the the premier division game at thurnby would go ahead. On arrival however the pitch was in superb condition and provided a surface for some tidy football.
The first half began with Desford in full control. The ball was being played between the back line and midfield with apparent ease and some nice interchanging football between the back 3 and midfield 2 of Camen Bhandal and Luke Higgins started to provide opportunities.
As the pressure built a hand ball in the penalty area provide Tom Vyce the first of the game from the spot. Not much later Vyce was given the opportunity from the spot again which he dispatched.
Vyce tied up his hat trick with the pick of the bunch when the ball looped over to him at the back of the box and was buried by a bicycle kick into the far corner. Desford 3 up at half time and Vyce with a hat trick
Second half continued with some flowing football and Ross Mcgarry broke through behind the defence to slot home a fourth and Louis rood finished the goals with his 5th
Thurnby put a lot more pressure on in the last 25 minutes and scored what was a consolation goal at then end of the game.
All in all a positive display from Desford
Next up is county cup weekend where we host Leicester Atletico.
